Feb. 14– The crowed pours in or toons in to live feed on Facebook, to watch the women’s wheelchair basketball team every week during the season. The game begins and the team is game ready to defend and score. Number 13 Juice, throws to Rosalie Lalonde and she travels down the court and scores. This occurs often with Lalonde being one of the best scorers on the team and in the world.

Known as number 4 on the field, Rosalie Lalonde is a senior from Montreal, Canada. Lalonde knew she had a passion for playing basketball at 13 years old. In a short period of time, she went from a junior team all the way to representing Canada at the Olympics in Rio.

“I went to Rio in 2016 and it was incredible,” Lalonde said.”I recommend everyone try and aim for that experience, even though it is very hard, it is so worth it.”

The Canadian team placed fifth in the Paralympics Games in Rio. In the games, Lalonde was commended for “Delivering a game-breaking play converting a fast break while drawing a foul, ” according to the Canada’s wheelchair basketball website. Lalonde scored 16 points for Canada in the 2016 games.

After Rio, she decided to focus on school. When she came across UA, she knew it was a perfect fit.


“I found a school where I could focus on training and school at the same time” Lalonde said.

Currently, Lalonde is training for the Olympics in Tokyo and is looking forward to defend their current undefeated winning streak at UA. Lalonde is seen as a determined player in her team’s eyes. she dedicates her time to basketball year round. When she is not training for her college team, she is working with the Canadian team for the upcoming games. No matter what team she plays for she is always focus on doing her best.

“right now my goal at the end of this year is to win the national championship and reach a 100 point game,” Lalonde said.
