The home game on Friday was dedicated to those who have struggled with cancer. Head coach Ryan Hynes, said they have been doing power of pink for awhile and thinks it is a great cause to honor.

“Cancer effects every one whether they have it or someone they knows has it, so its a worthy cause to dedicate the game to,” Hynes said.

Like the many people in the audience, Ryan Hynes is a cancer survivor. Hynes was diagnosed with neuroblastoma at a very young age. The cancer is often found in the small glands onto of the kidneys, even though it can develop throughout the body. The cancer is very rare with the United States only having 20,000 cases per year.

Although this can be a emotional game for the whole team, Hynes knows the girls will be focused.

“Extra emotion has built up, but we try to keep focused on the game and the team is very focused,” Hynes said. And focused they were.

The women’s team played the Charlotte hornets in the Poweraid Invitational. Player Arinn Young (Juice) started in the first quarter and finished strong with making the most points in Friday’s game.

Rosie Lalonde made one of the best shots in the game. being pressured by the opposing team, she threw the ball behind her head making a blind shot in the first quarter.
