Feb. 1— It takes more than players to win a game. Sure, it takes a player to block a ball from the opposite team and a player to make that winning shot. They may not be wearing the jersey, but the staff that work for the team is just as important.
Meet Amber Duren
Duren has been with the team for two seasons as the travel manger. She started with the team when she first signed up for the athletic internship class.
“At first I only helped with practices then the head coach asked me to start traveling with the team,” Duran said.
Her job is to make sure that the players are in their spots within seconds during the game to make sure that every play runs smoothly. She loves traveling with the team and has gotten to know all the players.
Duren was a former gymnasts and ran track before coming to The University of Alabama. She may have not played basketball, but she has loved every second of being apart of the team.
“Everyone in the program is so nice and I have loved getting to know all the players,” Duren said.
Of all that she has experienced with the team, being able to experience the team win at the national championship is her favorite memory.
“I loved getting to watch them prepare all season for nationals and see all their hard work pay off,” Duren said.
